What are the prizes?
By submitting to the contest you agree to allow Fantasy Readers Online first publication rights of your story in their anthology.
What is the contest timeline and process?
There are four quarters to the contest. The first quarter opens at 12:00 am October 1st to 11:59 pm December 20th. The second quarter opens at 12:00 am January 1st to 11:59 pm March 20th. The third quarter opens at 12:00 am April 1st to 11:59 pm June 20th. The fourth quarter opens at 12:00 am July 1st to 11:59 pm September 20th. Following the close of each quarter there is a 10 day period of review where the contest coordinators sort through the results from the quarter to determine the winners.
How do I enter?
Make sure the entry follows the
Submission Guidelines, then send the email as stated on the Writing Contest page.
Can I enter more than one submission?
Yes. You can enter up to two stories. Anything beyond two will be discarded by the contest coordinator.
Is there a fee for entering?
No! Fantasy Readers Online is interested in helping everyone succeed. To do this we will not charge an entry fee.
Can I submit a hard copy manuscript?
No, we are only accepting digital copies.
Do I keep my content rights if I enter?
Yes, you maintain full content rights when you enter. However, by entering the contest you have given Fantasy Readers Online rights to First Publication.
Can I enter on behalf of someone else?
No. In addition, minors should obtain permission from their parent or legal guardian before registering.
Is this an international contest?
Yes. Submissions, however, must be in the English language.
How will I know if my submission was accepted?
You will be notified after you submit your entry in e-mail.
How do I withdraw my entry from the contest?
You may withdraw your entry from the contest at any point prior to the close of the quarter in which your entry was submitted. At that time, Fantasy Readers Online retains exclusive right of first publication to you story until you are eliminated from the contest.
To withdraw from the contest, please e-mail
submissions@fantasyreadersonline.com from the e-mail address you used to enter the contest. If you use a different email address the request to withdraw will be denied. This is for your own safety to verify that it was you who requested the withdrawal.
How is the contest being judged?
Fantasy readers vote to determine the winners. In the case of a tie the contest coordinators will review the stories and determine a final winner among the two (or more).
How does customer voting work?
Voting will take place
using a standard voting mechanism where readers will leave feedback and vote on the stories they liked or disliked to determine winners. There is no charge for voting. Only one vote per reader will be accepted.
How do customer votes get counted?
When a customer votes it sends the information to Fantasy Readers Online were the number of votes will be tabulated. The finalists with the highest number of positive votes will be the winners.
Can I vote for my own entry?
Of course! Once your entry is posted online you will receive an email with the link directly to your entry. You can use this to vote for yourself and send the information on to everyone you know.
Can anyone vote, even people who live abroad?
Yes, anyone can vote. After all, fantasy fans come from all corners of this small world.
How will I be notified if I won?
You will receive an e-mail if you are one of the finalists.
